nVent ERICO grounding and bonding solutions
nVent ERICO has the experts and experience to select the ideal grounding and bonding solution for your application from the outset. Grounding and bonding needs vary by application. These can vary widely for telecommunications, substations of electricity companies, transmission and distribution systems or cathodic and lightning protection. In all cases, a high-quality earthing and connection system must:
• Protect people
• To provide protection against accidental contact between live conductors and welded/earthed parts
• Provide maximum protection against electrical system faults and lightning
Grounding, equipotential bonding, surge protection and lightning protection are all interdependent disciplines. Reliably protecting structures, industrial and commercial facilities and personnel requires a systematic and comprehensive approach to minimizing threats caused by electrical surges, from the ground up. For example, no lightning interceptor can safely capture lightning energy without a reliable route to the ground.
Surge Protection
Even with the best grounding and bonding system, electrical faults can damage electrical equipment and increase downtime. A coordinated surge protection system is crucial to extending equipment life.
For both building power and low-voltage applications, nVent ERICO has the products and expertise for a wide range of protection solutions for power and communications line surges caused by lightning, building systems and other switching events. nVent's involvement in the industry predates the establishment of the first IEC and UL low voltage protective standards. nVent has been active in all major international committees and industry bodies establishing standards for Surge Protective Devices (SPD), including IEEE, IEC and UL. Despite this, even the most expensive surge protectors have poor performance without a low-impedance grounding system. However, a low impedance grounding system can cause problems if proper installation bonding practices are not followed.

BLOK System SupplyRead moreBlok System Supply and itsme have maintained an intensive relationship for many years. Early last year, this was further deepened with electronic data exchange via the Smart Connected Supplier Network. ‘It saves an enormous amount of time and reduces errors. We always have real-time information automatically.’ However, time for personal contact is not saved. ‘That is precisely what makes itsme a very nice party to work with.’
