Spot on with the new Leuze miniature sensor!
The size of a sugar cube in our 3C Series of sensors: the ODT3CL1 laser distance sensor up to 2 metres accurate!
Within this series and construction form are many function principles in various versions. Characteristic are the many variants in terms of detection principle, optics, connection technology or specific applications, which often also feature integrated IO-Link communication.
Thanks to the ability to remotely adjust settings via IO-Link, almost remission-independent detection and switching points can be set regardless of different colours or reflections. This also ensures trouble-free exchange of this ODT3C, as the settings are stored in the controller, reducing human influence.
When measuring distances, 2 common measurement principles exist for optical sensors:
1. Triangulation measurement
With triangulation measurement, shorter distances are normally measured. Here, Leuze has known the ODT3C for some time as a fixed value: up to 150 mm, for example, a dough loop control: the dough is automatically rolled out to exactly the desired thickness. At the transition from the dough to the conveyor belt, a constant loop must be maintained so that the dough is not pulled too tightly, then becomes too thin and breaks or that the dough is not transported too fast: this makes the "loop" too large and the dough jams. This is one of the measuring/positioning tasks that this high-precision distance sensor solves.
2. Time Of Flight (TOF) measurement
Our latest member, the ODT3CL1 with red laser light offers possibilities especially at long distances, such as when detecting from a crane or shuttle into a high-bay warehouse: even 2 pallet positions in a row can be monitored, so that a product (box/pallet) can be safely retrieved or put away. There are also several applications for this miniature powerhouse in Automatic Guided Vehicles (AGVs) or in the packaging industry, among others!
*Equipped as standard for extreme ambient and cleaning conditions Ecolab, IP67 and IP69K.

Van Meer - Quick Connection for Energy StorageRead moreDrive specialist Van Meer developed an energy storage system for heavy-duty drives and designed a custom battery system for it. For the connectors in the battery system’s cabinet, their regular supplier itsme recommended omni-brand partner Phoenix Contact. Excellent connectors — only the frame didn’t fit. Phoenix Contact quickly developed a customer-specific connector design. itsme now supplies Van Meer with complete connector sets, including the custom plug.

Avebe - A Good Night’s Sleep Thanks to FactoryScanRead moreCompanies often have no clear idea of the installed base of industrial automation in their factories and warehouses. With FactoryScan, itsme can provide an overview of the current status of automation components such as PLCs. Potato processor Royal Avebe uses the results to update their component stock and assess future availability. The scan is intended to reduce the number of hardware-related disruptions Process Control Engineer Johan Wierenga has to deal with. It also helps him sleep better, knowing the stock is up to date.
