Arc detection - monitor your installation anytime, anywhere
ABB's arc detectors provide maximum protection for people, valuables and buildings. The detectors prevent fires from arcing. A fast response time is literally and figuratively of vital importance. Combining that with real-time monitoring creates a reliable total solution for arc detection. ABB offers that solution.
An arc can injure people and damage equipment, making it one of the most serious hazards in an electrical installation. Electric arcs cause an enormous amount of energy that can reach temperatures of over 19,000 degrees Celsius, hotter than the surface of the sun. Although exact figures of arc incidents in low-voltage installations are difficult to ascertain, it is generally believed that dozens of incidents occur annually.
Fastest reaction time
When an arc occurs, one of the most critical factors is the time until the arc is interrupted: the earlier the arc is interrupted, the less energy can be released. With a response time of less than one millisecond, the combination of E6 expansion module with the TVOC-2 arc detection system is the most reliable solution of its kind. The fastest shutdown times of the TVOC-2 are combined with the capability of zone selectivity, real-time updates via the unit's HMI, Modbus RTU communication and remote monitoring by ABB Ability™ Energy & Asset Manager. Users are thereby immediately notified when detectors are disabled or disconnected.
Reliable operation
The E6 expansion module is quick, easy and calibration-free on-site installation and also minimizes downtime after an arc. Monitoring of the arc detectors ensures operation of the detectors and continuous operation of installations. And because the detectors are tested every 10 seconds, maintenance costs drop significantly.

Avebe - A Good Night’s Sleep Thanks to FactoryScanRead moreCompanies often have no clear idea of the installed base of industrial automation in their factories and warehouses. With FactoryScan, itsme can provide an overview of the current status of automation components such as PLCs. Potato processor Royal Avebe uses the results to update their component stock and assess future availability. The scan is intended to reduce the number of hardware-related disruptions Process Control Engineer Johan Wierenga has to deal with. It also helps him sleep better, knowing the stock is up to date.
