Pilz Module 4

Designing control technical safety measures

Type of course

Machine safety

Intro

Day 4 of the Masterclass: Introduction EN-ISO 13849-1 (PL) and EN-IEC 62061 (SIL)

Target audience

  • Designers
  • Hardware engineers
  • Service technicians
  • Technical advisors and inspectors
  • Everyone who is responsible for the construction of the control system safety chain

Foreknowledge

We advise participants  to start with module 1 "Process flow machine safety" of the course program.

Goal

The EN 954-1 standard, which deals with general design principles of safety circuits, has been replaced as of 31-12-2011 by two new standards in the field of safety systems: EN-ISO 13849-1 and EN-IEC 62061.
The module "Designing control technical safety measures" discusses the differences and similarities between the two standards and provides a brief summary of the concepts and design methods that are important for the design and validation of control engineering safety chains.
The purpose of the module is to learn to apply (practice) the already learned concepts regarding machine safety. The starting point here is the Machinery Directive 2006/42 / EC and associated standards.
These concepts and methods are put into practice on the basis of practical exercises. Examples are the correct design and validation of safety chains such as door safety devices, light barriers and calculation of zoning of eg emergency stop chains.
This module is an introduction to the in-depth follow-up training sessions.

Your advantages:

  • Calculating safety loops
  • Failure calculations
  • You know what standard you can apply when

Global content

  • Basic Performance Level (ISO 13849)
  • Basic Safety Integrity level (IEC 62061)

The requirements of the Machinery Directive with regard to the CE marking can be met with the appropriate preparation in accordance with the directive. If these are integrated into the design process, the effort can be amortized right from the first project. In the seminar "CE complete process according to Machinery Directive in practice" you will learn the conformity assessment process according to the Machinery Directive step by step. The overall CE process is examined in detail and worked out using a machine model.
